JONATHAN PEARCE VS DAVID ONAMA LOWDOWN

Jonathan Pearce (14-5) has been way too inactive for our liking only fighting once since December 2022. That was a unanimous decision win over Darren Elkins which capped off a decent five-fight win streak. He then met Joanderson Brito a year later and got submitted for the third time to drop his UFC record to 5-2.

David Onama (11-2) has also been too inactive to make any real progress in the featherweight division. He managed to get three fights in 2022 finishing Gabriel Benitez via knockout and Garrett Armfield via submission but then falling short in that war with Nate Landwehr. It also took him a year to return which was a superb knockout over Gabriel Santos, but that is his only fight since.

JONATHAN PEARCE VS DAVID ONAMA PREDICTION

Both of these fighters are very skilled. Pearce will rely on his wrestling and cardio whereas Onama will hope his takedown defence will hold up so he can unleash his superior striking.

He is more technical, explosive and only needs to find the chin once to to walk away the victor. For that reason, he is the value bet as the significant underdog.

However, we feel Onama’s takedown defence is not good enough to stuff Pearce’s relentless pressure. We expect Pearce to get the fight to the floor multiple times and earn enough control time to convince the judges.

Prediction: Pearce via Decision

Value bet: Onama via KO/TKO
