JOE SOLECKI VS ALEX DA SILVA LOWDOWN

Coming off of his first loss in the UFC against Jared Gordon, Joe Solecki (11-3) will be desperate to get back in the win column and prove why he is a real talent in the UFC lightweight division. Before the defeat, Solecki picked up impressive wins against Matt Wiman, Austin Hubbard and Jim Miller.

As for Alex da Silva (21-3), the Brazilian native is also coming off a loss. Alex suffered a decision defeat against Brad Riddell nearly two years ago. Currently 1-2 with the promotion, da Silva is hoping that a win over Solecki will finally kickstart his UFC career as he looks to climb up and burst into the rankings.

Heading into this weekend’s lightweight showdown, despite Soelcki having the height advantage, da Silva will have a bit of an advantage in the reached department.

Da Silva has the potential to do well in the promotion, but he’s rarely delivered during his UFC tenure so far. The Brazilian has the skillset to pick Solecki apart on the feet and has a strong wrestling and submission game. With that being said, his cardio continues to be a big problem.

We suspect that da Silva will look to be the aggressor early but struggle as the rounds go on. Eventually, Solecki will be able to take control of the fight and take it to the floor, where he can assert his dominant ground game.
