JOAQUIM SILVA VS DRAKKAR KLOSE LOWDOWN
Joaquim Silva (13-4) fought twice last year and although he got knocked out in his first fight, he gave a decent account of himself. He stepped up on short notice to fight Arman Tsarukyan who should be next in line for a title shot. He rocked him early, but eventually succumbed via TKO in the third round. He was then given a much kinder match-up in the form ageing form of Clay Guida and Silva walked away with a unanimous decision to bump his UFC tally up to 6-4.
Now, he takes on Drakkar Klose (14-2-1) who although he has not been very active, he has only lost once in his last seven. That was a knockout loss to Beneil Dariush (2022) and then he suffered a bad neck injury thanks to Jeremy Stephens pushing him at the weigh-ins before their scheduled fight. He took a couple years out and returned to knock out Brandon Jenkins (2022), outpoint Rafa Garcia (2022) and then slam Joe Solecki (2023) through the canvas to pick up his sixth knockout.
JOAQUIM SILVA VS DRAKKAR KLOSE PREDICTION
This should be a fun fight. Silva comes to finish, ideally with his hands, but he also slick jiu-jitsu to call upon should they end up on the mat. Klose is very well-rounded as an exceptional offensive wrestler with good technical striking.
Silva is more of a knockout threat with one-punch knockout power. However, the difference should be Klose’s volume and wrestling. He will back his technique on the feet to avoid the power, inflict his own damage and time his takedowns to close out the rounds.
Silva holds value as the underdog with his finishing ability, but Klose is very durable and has the tools to earn a decision at least.
Prediction: Klose via Decision
Value Bet: Silva via KO/TKO or Submission
