JIM MILLER VS GABRIEL BENITEZ LOWDOWN
Jim Miller (36-17(1)) heads to the APEX to extend his record for the most UFC appearances and wins. This will be his 43rd UFC bout and remarkably, he is still picking up dubs. In 2021, he responded to two losses by knocking out Erick Gonzalez and Nikolas Motta (2022) before submitting Donald Cerrone (2022). He then lost a unanimous decision to Alexander Hernandez (2023) but picked up his 25th UFC win by knocking out Jesse Butler (2023) in the first round.
Gabriel Benitez (23-10) makes his 14th UFC appearance and remains at lightweight after his superb performance 17 months ago. He was coming off two disappointing losses at featherweight getting knocked out by Billy Quarantillo (2021) and David Onama (2022). He returned at UFC on ESPN 41 and reeled off a vintage knockout of his own over Charlie Ontiveros in the first round.
JIM MILLER VS GABRIEL BENITEZ PREDICTION
This should be a very exciting fight. We all know about Miller’s prowess on the mat, but he has been enjoying his striking in recent fights. He is a brilliant boxer and his power has not left him. Benitez will hope he stands and trades as he is also lethal on the feet.
Miller has better hands but the Mexican has better kicks and we expect him to try and disable Miller with leg and body kicks. However, he will be risking getting caught and taken down. Although Benitez has 10 submissions on the record, Miller has better jiu-jitsu and we fully expect Benitez to try and keep this on the feet.
Both fighters will hunt the finish which is more likely to come via knockout. A Miller submission is also likely if Benitez gets rocked and Miller jumps on a guillotine. The Mexican has more firepower, but this could come down to who is more durable and you do not break longevity records without being made out of granite.
Prediction: Miller via KO/TKO
Value Bet: Benitez to win
