JAQUELINE AMORIM VS VANESSA DEMOPOULOS LOWDOWN
Brazil’s Jaqueline Amorim returns to the Octagon with her 8-1 record and she is coming off successive wins in the UFC. After suffering the only loss of her pro MMA career on her UFC debut via a unanimous decision, Amorim has responded in style with a TKO win over Montserrat Ruiz and a submission of Cory McKenna.
She will meet Vanessa Demopoulos who has an 11-5 record and comes off back-to-back wins herself. Both of the victories came via the judges’ scorecards and that means her last five fights overall have all gone the distance. The 35-year-old has now won five of her last six fights as she looks to progress in the division.
JAQUELINE AMORIM VS VANESSA DEMOPOULOS PREDICTION
This is a really nice match-up on paper and it promises to make for a competitive and entertaining bout. Demopoulos is remarkably gritty and tenacious as she has the greater experience and savvy. Amorim is the promising fighter who is rising up the division and importantly, is an impressive finisher.
It is Amorim’s ability to finish fights and her varied attack that should give her the edge in this fight. Her submissions are strong while she does possess decent power also. One factor going against her could be time in the Octagon however. Seven of her nine fights have ended in the first round so Demopoulos will be eager to take this deep and test her stamina.
Amorim has the greater quality however and she should be able to have the greater Octagon control overall. We are not ruling out an upset as Demopoulos is getting better with age, but we like Amorim to get the W.
