GREGORY RODRIGUES VS DENIS TIULIULIN LOWDOWN
Gregory Rodrigues (13-5) makes his second appearance on a pay-per view card. His last was his most recent fight at UFC 283 in January and it could not have gone worse. He welcomed Brunno Ferreira to the octagon and got flatlined in the first round. That dented his UFC tally to 4-2 and now he is looking make up for it.
The same can be said for Denis Tiuliulin (10-7(1)). He has made three appearances under the bright lights and in two of those, he got humbled and submitted by Aliaskhab Khizriev (2022) on debut and Jun Yong Park back in February. In between those wins however, he reeled off a vintage TKO over Jamie Pickett (2022) and would love to emulate that performance in Boston.
GREGORY RODRIGUES VS DENIS TIULIULIN PREDICTION
Rodrigues can dictate how this fight goes. Tiuliulin is a high-level striker with very limited grappling and Rodrigues is a strong wrestler with a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He can carve through him if he decides to by taking him down, smothering him and setting up a submission.
However, that style is not exciting enough for him as he feels he can put anyone to sleep on the feet. It is understandable looking at the nine knockouts on his record, but it was his undoing against Ferreira. His fellow Brazilian is also a lethal knockout artist and his defence was simply not good enough to prevent an onslaught on his face.
That loss could be a blessing in disguise as he will be more aware of the risks of standing in front of a high calibre striker with mediocre defence. So, we expect him to call upon his grappling after having some fun on the feet first.
Prediction: Rodrigues via Submission
