GILLIAN ROBERTSON VS PIERA RODRIGUEZ LOWDOWN
Gillian Robertson (11-7) drops down to strawweight after extending her record for the most submissions in the flyweight division. She cinched up a rear-naked choke over Mariya Agapova back in September, but she has struggled to build a streak going 8-5 in the UFC.
She is welcomed to the division by Piera Rodriguez (9-0) who is protecting her unbeaten record. She arrived to the octagon after outpointing Valesca Machado (2021) building her hype and she passed the UFC test so far earning unanimous decisions over Kay Hansen and Sam Hughes last year.
GILLIAN ROBERTSON VS PIERA RODRIGUEZ PREDICTION
It will be very interesting to see how Robertson looks after the weight cut to 115 lbs. She only really struggled against the bigger more powerful women at flyweight and will be very strong for this division.
Rodriguez matches up similarly in stature and is also very powerful however, she holds the power in her striking. If Robertson can seal a takedown, it will be a very long night for the Venezuelan.
She also has a suspect gas tank whereas Robertson can grind hard for a full 15 minutes. So, unless Rodriguez can hurt Robertson early, we can see her getting controlled in the second and third round to seal a decision.
