FRANCIS MARSHALL VS DENNIS BUZUKJA LOWDOWN

Francis ‘Fire’ Marshall (7-2) answered the call from the UFC to step in for this bout at short notice following the injury sustained to Danny Silva. Marshall has lost his last two bouts and while he has had trouble cutting weight in the past, this bout is now at lightweight to avoid any late issues ahead of this rescheduled fight.

Dennis Buzukja (12-4) will not be phased by the late change in opponent and he is coming off a win over Connor Matthews in March. Prior to that, he had lost his previous two fights so will be keen to build more momentum here and kick on.

FRANCIS MARSHALL VS DENNIS BUZUKJA PREDICTION

Fair play to Francis Marshall stepping in at short notice for this bout and the bookies actually have him slight favourite to get the win. It is just over a year since his last fight when he was TKO’d by Isaac Dulgarian and there is a lot of unknowns about Marshall coming into this fight.

He will likely have been training for an opportunity regardless but the fact he has the leeway of only needing to make lightweight weight may not actually help him and his sharpness. It will however ensure the fight happens which is the UFC’s priority. How he responds to his first ever knockout loss will be interesting.

Buzukja will be confident especially coming off that TKO win over Matthews. Marshall also fought against Matthews two years ago in the Contender Series but could only win a points’ decision. Buzukja got the stoppage in the third round so that will boost the New York native.

Our preference is on Buzukja for multiple reasons. He has been the more active of the two fighters, he is not coming off a knockout loss and he has had a fully focused training camp. The value is on Buzukja here.

PREDICTION: Dennis Buzukja to win
