EDUARDA MOURA VS MONTSERRAT RUIZ LOWDOWN

Eduarda Moura (9-0) makes her UFC debut on home soil. She is protecting her unbeaten record which contains three knockouts and five submissions. She is coming off four finishes on the bounce including two this year. She TKO’d Claudiene Ferreira Alves for Demo Fight and submitted Janaina Silva on the Contender Series to seal her place in the big time.

Montserrat Ruiz (10-3) is coming off two TKO losses however, they were at the hands of the super strong former title challenger Amanda Lemos (2021) and Jaqueline Amorim back in August. She would love to welcome the debutant with a dominant performance mirroring the unanimous decision win over Cheyanne Vlismas (2021) on debut.

EDUARDA MOURA VS MONTSERRAT RUIZ PREDICTION

Moura will not be as easy to take down as Vlismas. In fact, she is a very good grappler with better jiu-jitsu than Ruiz. The Mexican is rather one-dimensional, but she is a very strong wrestler, and we still expect her to have a strategy devised around putting Moura on her back and keeping her there.

We also expect Moura to hunt the takedown, so she can work on a submission. Although Ruiz is the better wrestler, we can see Moura taking her down. Until one of them shoots in for the takedown, expect some looping strikes with little defence on offer.

This should be a fun fight and we are backing Moura’s size and power to win the grappling exchanges. Ruiz is very durable, but the Brazilian can wear her down and set up a late finish.

When a debutant is a heavy favourite, backing the underdog makes sense.

Prediction: Moura via KO/TKO

Value bet: Ruiz to win
