DAN IGE VS ANDRE FILI LOWDOWN
Dan Ige (17-7) heads to the APEX for his 16th UFC appearance. He had a tough run in 2021/2022. He starched Gavin Tucker in the first round, but then ran into the likes of the Korean Zombie, Josh Emmett and Movsar Evloev losing three unanimous decisions on the spin. He bounced back perfectly by knocking out Damon Jackson (2022) and outpointing Nate Landwehr (2023) but is coming off another loss after getting wrestled by Bryce Mitchell (2023) for three rounds denting his UFC record to 9-6.
Andre Fili (23-10(1)) makes his 22nd UFC appearance as he replaces Lerone Murphy. His record is 11-9(1) but he has fought some of the very best featherweights in the world. He also got out wrestled by Bryce Mitchell (2020) and has gone 2-2(1) since. He got knocked out by Joanderson Brito (2022) and outpointed by Nathaniel Wood (2023) but earnt a hard-fought split decision over Bill Algeo (2022) and impressive knockout over Lucas Almeida (2023)
DAN IGE VS ANDRE FILI PREDICTION
It is a shame Murphy pulled out but thanks to Fili, we still have an exciting match-up. They are both very-well rounded and do the best work on the feet.
Fili will boast a three-inch reach and four-inch height advantage but Ige packs more power. Especially in his jab which he will no get behind here. Fili will be wise to keep Ige guessing with level-changes and mixing in takedown attempts with his striking.
However, Ige is a top grappler himself and Fili will not bring anything he has not seen before. We expect a mixture of high-level striking and grappling but with a full training camp behind him, we back Ige to squeeze out a decision.
Prediction: Ige via Decision
Value Bet: Fili via Decision
