CODY DURDEN VS BRUNO SILVA LOWDOWN
Cody Durden (16-5-1) was starting to build some momentum after stringing four solid wins together. He TKO’d JP Buys (2022) and earnt unanimous decisions over Carlos Mota (2022), Charles Johnson (2023) and Jake Hadley (2023). He then ran into Tagir Ulanbekov (2023) and went face-first into a submission loss to take his UFC tally to 5-3-1.
Bruno Silva (13-5-2(1)) also lost to Ulanbekov (2020) although he prevented a finish. That was his second unanimous decision loss in a row however, he has gone on to earn three ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses knocking out Buys (2021) and Victor Rodriguez (2021) before submitting Tyson Nam (2023).
CODY DURDEN VS BRUNO SILVA PREDICTION
As impressive as Silva’s recent performances were, none of those opponents are in the UFC anymore and Durden is a tough stylistic match-up. He will be giving up two inches in reach and three in height. Durden is the bigger, heavier fighter and he will look to leverage that with his wrestling.
Durden has shown a weakness in his submission defence and Silva has the jiu-jitsu to expose that. Durden will respect that and we expect him to mix up his takedowns with his striking. This should be a very fun scrap, but on paper, Durden should be able to win the exchanges on the feet and close the show with his wrestling.
Prediction: Durden via Decision
Value Bet: Silva to win
