When Cody Brundage (8-4) submitted Dalcha Lungiambula (2022) and sparked out Tresean Gore (2022) people touted the NCAA wrestler to go on to big things in the middleweight division. However, after getting knocked out himself by Michal Oleksiejczuk (2022) and submitted by Rodolfo Vieira (2023) his future in the UFC is suddenly uncertain.
Sedriques Dumas (7-1) was preparing for Punahele Soriano so will have to make some late adjustments. He arrived to the UFC with a lot of hype unbeaten finishing all but one of his wins (four knockouts and two submissions). He met Josh Fremd back in March at UFC Fight Night 221 as the favourite but got submitted in the second round.

Brundage is coming off two devastating losses, but Oleksiejczuk is a knockout specialist and Vieira is one of the best Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners on the roster. It is his fight IQ and cardio that has been a worry. He has blistering knockout power and high-level wrestling but has not leveraged these skills very well.
Dumas is also well-rounded and is a dangerous finisher. He will try and keep this on feet and hunt the chin of Brundage. He is very explosive and he will try and clip the chin from range with his seven-inch reach advantage.
We can see Dumas finding success early with his hands, but if Brundage fights smart and uses his striking to break the distance and wrestle, he can dump Dumas on his back. That said, his cardio is poor and will struggle to keep up a pace for three rounds.
Brundage is very inconsistent which makes this tough to call. However, considering how easily Fremd took Dumas down must have paved the way for his game plan. We are backing Brundage to get his wrestling boots on, but Dumas will keep springing back up to his feet and is worth a punt on a knockout.
