CARLOS ULBERG VS IHOR POTIERIA LOWDOWN
Carlos Ulberg (7-1) is starting to build some steam in the light heavyweight division after his debut loss. He was welcomed to the UFC by Kennedy Nzechukwu (2021) and although it was the ‘Fight of the Night’, he got knocked out in the first round. However, he has gone on to outpoint Fabio Cherant (2022) and then reel off two vintage knockouts over Tafon Nchukwi and Nicolae Negumereanu (2022).
Ihor Potieria (19-3) also got knocked out on his UFC debut which snapped a 15-fight win streak. It was against familiar opponent Negumereanu who closed the show in the second round with some brutal knees. However, like Ulberg, Potieria bounced back in style by knocking out legend Shogun Rua back in January.
CARLOS ULBERG VS IHOR POTIERIA PREDICTION
This is another exciting stylistic match-up for Ulberg. The kickboxer will relish this fight as Potieria is also very aggressive and confident on the feet. He lost to Negumereanu who Ulberg knocked out, but we cannot read too much into that when they both boast knockout power.
That said, Ulberg is the better striker and is far more technical so Potieria will be wise to call upon his sambo skills to get the Kiwi on his back. If he cannot take him down or decides to test his ego on the feet, he will get a rude awakening.
Ulberg can pierce the Ukrainian’s defence starting with leg kicks. We can see a lot of success with them, chopping Potieria down, but Ulberg with have to be cautious of the wild looping shots that will come his way.
Potieria can make this very interesting depending on his game plan, but we feel his confidence on the feet will get him into trouble and walking into a knockout blow before getting his legs torn up.
