CARLOS HERNANDEZ VS DENYS BONDAR LOWDOWN
Carlos Hernandez (8-2) entered the UFC scene with two split decisions. He met Daniel Barez (2021) on the Contender series to earn his contract and then took on Victor Altamirano (2022) for his debut scraping through again. He returned a year later back in January to take on Allan Nascimento who snapped his eight-fight win streak with a first-round submission.
Denys Bondar (16-4) entered the UFC last year with a lot of hype, but his debut could not have gone much worse. He also compiled an impressive eight-fight win streak to earn the call-up and met Malcolm Gordon at UFC Fight Night 200. Unfortunately, he broke his arm in the first round to lose via TKO and has been on the sidelines since.
CARLOS HERNANDEZ VS DENYS BONDAR PREDICTION
This is an important fight for Bondar who is looking to make up for lost time and prove the hype is real. Hernandez is a decent striker with good jiu-jitsu, but his wrestling is a hole in his game which Bondar will look to exploit.
The Ukrainian is very aggressive and on paper, he has enough to better Hernandez everywhere. He should overwhelm him on the feet with his power and eventually shoot in and drag the fight to the floor.
Hernandez will threaten the submission off his back, but Bondar has the technique and power to nullify his weapons and grind out a decision at least.
