BRENDAN ALLEN VS BRUNO SILVA LOWDOWN
Brendan Allen (21-5) is coming off one of the biggest wins of his career. Andre Muniz is not a big name in the middleweight division, but he was sitting on a nine-fight streak with some of the most scary Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the division. Allen met him in March at UFC Fight Night 220 and managed to submit the 3rd degree black belt in the third round. That took his impressive UFC tally to 9-2.
With zero submissions in the win column and six in the loss, it may be a surprise that Bruno Silva (23-8) is also a black belt. He kicked off his UFC campaign with three knockouts to make it six finishes in a row. He went on to lose a unanimous decision to the former champ Alex Pereira (2022) and get submitted by Gerald Meerschaert (2022) but is coming off a vintage TKO over Brad Tavares back in April.
BRENDAN ALLEN VS BRUNO SILVA PREDICTION
On paper, Silva has the skill set to nullify Allen, but after submitting Muniz, no one is safe on the ground. He is also a better wrestler that Silva and has the better technique on the feet.
However, his defence is suspect and Silva has blistering knockout power. If Allen makes this boring and decides to wrestle for three rounds, he can make this look easy. However, he is very confident in his striking which could be his undoing.
Silva will be incredibly dangerous while this is on the feet, especially in the first round. If Allen tests his ego, we can see him getting his clock cleaned. If Allen wrestles for the first couple rounds and drains the gas tank of the Brazilian, then he can show off his striking.
A Silva knockout is the obvious play, but Allen has all of the tools to get this done with a decision or submission most likely.
