AUSTEN LANE VS JHONATA DINIZ LOWDOWN
Austen Lane (12-4(1)) hopes to finally get his UFC career off the ground. He built a lot of momentum going into his UFC debut by knocking out Richard Jacobi (2022) on the Contender Series to extend his finishing streak to six. He met Justin Tafa (2023) for his debut, and it never got going after accidentally poking him in the eye. They met again three months later at UFC 293, and the rematch did not last much longer with Tafa burying him in the first round.
Now, he takes on another lethal striker in Jhonata Diniz (6-0). He made his long-awaited entrance into MMA in 2022 off the back of a successful kickboxing career. He started his MMA campaign with five routine knockouts on the regional scene and continued the theme during his audition on the Contender Series by clapping Eduardo Neves (2023) securing his sixth first-round knockout.
AUSTEN LANE VS JHONATA DINIZ PREDICTION
It is very exciting Diniz in the big time as his striking is at the top of the food chain. Lane is also an exciting fighter. He is obviously very athletic from his NFL background, and he has amassed some decent experience since football career.
He is going to have to show off his wrestling to have any chance. The kickboxer is on a different level technique wise and if he can defend the takedowns, he should be able to find the knockout.
He has brilliant defence and as long as he respects the skill and dynamism of Lane, he should be able to set a trap to land something flush on the chin.
Prediction: Diniz via KO/TKO
