ARNOLD ALLEN VS GIGA CHIKADZE LOWDOWN
Arnold Allen (19-3) is on a two-fight skid, but they were two of his toughest matchups in the featherweight division. Max Holloway (2023) snapped the 12-fight win streak with a vintage striking display. He was then paired with one of the best wrestlers in the division, Movsar Evloev (2024) at UFC 297 who secured five takedowns to close out another unanimous decision dropping his UFC record to 10-2.
Giga Chikadze (15-3) was also humbled on the feet in his first UFC loss. That was to Calvin Kattar (2022) back at UFC on ESPN 32. That snapped a nine-fight win streak including seven UFC dubs and three TKO ‘Performance of the Night’ displays. He returned in August last year to fight Alex Caceres and got back in the win column with a unanimous decision.
ARNOLD ALLEN VS GIGA CHIKADZE PREDICTION
Allen will be grateful to fight another striker after getting out wrestled in his last fight. That said, he will be drilling his wrestling again here, but on the offensive side as that is the weakness in Chikadze’s game.
The Georgian is a brilliant kickboxer. He is more technical than Allen and is dangerous from range. He will boast a four-inch reach and three-inch height advantage and will look to leverage that by staying on the outside popping out his jab and setting up his kicks to the leg, liver and dome.
Arnold will back his durability and explosiveness to step in the pocket with punches before level-changing for a takedown. While this is on the feet, it will be very competitive, but expect Allen to swing the fight in his favour with his wrestling.
Although Allen is coming off two losses, sharing the cage with Holloway and Evloev will only have made him a better fighter and we expect him to earn a decision.
