ANDREI ARLOVSKI VS DON’TALE MAYES LOWDOWN
Andrei Arlovski (34-21(2)) makes the walk for his 40th UFC fight. Although the heavyweight division is shallow, the fact he is still picking up wins is impressive. He earnt four decisions in a row over Chase Sherman (2021), Carlos Felipe (2021), Jared Vanderaa (2022) and Jake Collier (2022). He then met Marcos Rogerio de Lima (2022) who pulled off a surprising first-round submission to snap the streak.
Don’Tale Mayes (9-5(1)) is struggling to stay afloat in the division and is now 2-3(1) in the big time. It could have been 2-4 if Hamdy Abdelwahab (2022) did not fail a drugs test after his split decision win. Mayes went on to fight Augusto Sakai back in February and lost a unanimous decision to leave him fighting for his job.

The legend stands at the gate waiting for Mayes who is under a lot of pressure here. Arlovski’s experience has been on full display in recent years abandoning his old wild ways and simply just finds a way to win now.
Mayes needs to hunt the damaged chin as Arlovski will look to dictate the pace of the fight from the bell. He will keep his defence tight, look to counter and clinch up when necessary so Mayes needs to be aggressive.
The most likely outcomes here are an Arlovksi decision or a Mayes knockout but do not expect any fight bonuses.
