ANDRE PETROSKI VS GERALD MEERSCHAERT LOWDOWN
Andre Petroski (9-1) looks to continue his ascent up the middleweight division. We first saw him on The Ultimate Fighter 29 series where he was one of the favourites but got submitted by the eventual winner Bryan Battle in the semi-finals. Since then, he got dealt two very favourable fights where he TKO’d Micheal Gilmore (2021) and submitted Yaozong Hu (2021). He then got had two more appropriate matchups but extended his streak by submitting fellow grappler Nick Maximov (2022) and outpointing Wellington Turman (2022).
He takes on his third grappler in a row in Gerald Meerschaert (35-16). You just have to look at his record to know if he does not submit someone, he is getting finished himself. However, he broke the trend for the first time in nine fights when he lost a unanimous decision to Krzysztof Jotko (2022). He resumed business as normal by submitting Bruno Silva (2022) and getting sparked out by Joe Pyfer back in April.
ANDRE PETROSKI VS GERALD MEERSCHAERT PREDICTION
This is an interesting challenge for Meerschaert as Petroski has never been submitted. He will be confident of blessing that loss column, however if he cannot find a submission, he offers very little.
On paper, this is a very difficult match up for Meerschaert as Petroski is not only a superb jiu-jitsu practitioner, he is a very strong wrestler and it is hard to see Meerschaert being able to take him down.
We expect Petroski to keep this fight on the feet and treat it as an excuse to show off his striking. His stand-up needs refining, but he packs a lot of power and Meerschaert will be there to be hit.
Petroski’s only worry is his cardio. If this goes into the third round, anything can happen, but we are backing Petroski to keep the fight exactly where he wants it and if everything goes to plan, he could walk out of Boston with the knockout.
Prediction: Petroski via KO/TKO
