ANDRE MUNIZ VS BRENDAN ALLEN LOWDOWN

The dark horse of the middleweight division Andre Muniz (23-4) has only lost once in his last 18 fights and has looked exceptional in his five UFC outings. He has fought solid competition and grapplers too submitting Bartosz Fabinski (2020) and Eryk Anders (2021) which sandwiched his most impressive win to date – not only submitting one of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners to grace MMA but breaking his arm. He followed those wins with a unanimous decision over Uriah Hall (2022) to extend his win streak to nine.

Brendan Allen (20-5) has rebuilt his momentum after Chris Curtis (2021) pulled off his second short notice knockout in a row. It was a big setback for Allen however, 2022 could not have gone much better submitting Sam Alvey, outpointing Jacob Malkoun and reeling off his 11th submission over Krzysztof Jotko to go 8-2 in the UFC.

ANDRE MUNIZ VS BRENDAN ALLEN PREDICTION

This is a fantastic match-up. Muniz has one of the most dangerous ground games in the division and Allen is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who has been tuning up his striking in Thailand.

Allen has 11 submissions in the win column, but he would still be wise to avoid tangling up. If they, do Allen has the ability to hold his own, but he will constantly be on the defensive. If he gets this done, it will be via his striking which continues to improve.

If he can avoid the takedown and maintain the distance, he can pick Muniz apart from range. However, Allen’s confidence in his jiu-jitsu means he tends to offer little resistance to getting taken down.

We can see Allen not respecting Muniz’s grappling enough and the Brazilian creating scrambles where he has the skill and speed to snatch an arm or pounce on a choke. That said, there is value on Allen considering the odds.
