ALEX PEREZ VS MUHAMMAD MOKAEV LOWDOWN
We have not seen Alex Perez (24-7) since July 2022. That was at UFC 277 when he got submitted by the current champion Alexandre Pantoja. That was his first fight in 19 months after stepping up for his first UFC title fight. He was humbled and submitted by Deiveson Figueiredo (2020) in the first round leaving him without a win in over four years.
Muhammad Mokaev (11-0(1)) welcomes him back to the octagon with the opportunity to add his biggest name to the record. He is yet to taste defeat and has looked superb in his five UFC outings. His last three fights have been on pay-per-view cards where he risen to the occasion submitting Malcolm Gordon (2022), Jafel Filho (2023) and Tim Elliott (2023).
ALEX PEREZ VS MUHAMMAD MOKAEV PREDICTION
This could be the perfect time to fight the former title challenger who has forgotten that winning feeling and coming off his fourth and fifth submission losses. Mokaev has all of the momentum coming off three submission wins while being very active.
If the Perez of old turns up he will provide Mokaev his biggest challenge to date. He is very well-rounded with championship experience. He has quick hand speed and possesses thunderous leg kicks.
The Brit will be well aware of this and we expect him to stick to his strengths and get his wrestling boots on. This is a tough fight for him, but his wrestling should be enough to subdue the Brazilian at least.
Perez’s jiu-jitsu is better than his record suggests, but Mokaev is good enough to submit him.
Prediction: Mokaev via Submission
