ALEX OLIVEIRA VS RAMAZAN KURAMAGOMEDOV LOWDOWN
Thankfully, Alex Oliveira (22-9-1(2)) is still on the UFC Vegas 20 card after Randy Brown pulled out. He has many attributes, but consistency has not been one of them recently. He went on a three-fight skid in 2019 getting submitted by Gunnar Nelson and losing unanimous decisions to Mike Perry and Nicolas Dalby. He got back in the win column with a split decision over Max Griffin and unanimous decision over Peter Sabotta but is coming off a submission loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov to go 11-7(1) in the UFC.
Ramazan Kuramagomedov (8-0) is the man replacing Brown stepping up for his UFC debut. He boasts an unblemished record fighting for a variety of promotions including an exciting split decision win over Jordan Williams on the Contender series. He did not impress the brass enough to get the contract but two submissions later over Melisbek Abdrakhmanov (2019) and Trevor Ollison (2020) and the willingness to accept this fight have given him a golden opportunity.

This is a similar situation to Oliveira’s last fight when the undefeated Rakhmonov filled in for Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. It puts all the pressure on Oliveira who is expected to win as the UFC veteran, but he is taking on another talented and unbeaten fighter with everything to gain. This is not an easy fight for Oliveira, but it just shows how game he is.
Kuramagomedov has not had much time to prepare but he is fully expected to bring it against Oliveira and give him a very tough fight. He has got great cardio and he will look to chop the Brazilian down with leg kicks. If Oliveira does not show up again, Kuramagomedov will pounce for the biggest win of his career but we are backing Oliveira to show his class striking from range and mixing in takedowns to earn a decision at least.
