MATT FREVOLA VS BENOIT SAINT-DENIS LOWDOWN
Matt Frevola (11-3-1) is rolling through his competition. 2021 was a setback losing a unanimous decision to Arman Tsarukyan and getting starched by Terrance McKinney. However, he could not have responded any better reeling off three first-round knockouts burying Genaro Valdez (2022), Ottman Azaitar (2022) and most recently Drew Dober (2023).
Now he takes on the granite Benoit Saint-Denis (8-2) who has also displayed a lot of character bouncing back from a humbling loss. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (2021) gave him a three-round beating up a welterweight on short notice. Since then, he has gone on to submit Niklas Stolze (2022), TKO Gabriel Miranda (2022), submit Ismael Bonfim (2023) and TKO Thiago Moises.
MATT FREVOLA VS BENOIT SAINT-DENIS PREDICTION
Both of these warriors are battering their way into their prime and this should be an exciting clash. They are well-rounded and lethal in different areas.
Frevola possesses undeniable knockout power and although his grappling has not been required recently, he is also a very strong wrestler. Saint-Denis on the other hand is decent on the feet and a very dangerous grappler. He is a powerful wrestler with slick jiu-jitsu.
We expect Frevola to try and keep this on the feet confident that he can be the first man to finish the Frenchman. It would be quite the feat considering how durable Saint-Denis is. He will feel Frevola out before setting up the takedown and if he can close the distance, we expect him to shut Frevola down.
As the underdog, there is a lot of value the New Yorker especially as the hometown favourite. However, if this goes past the first round, we expect Saint-Denis to grind out the win.
Prediction: Saint-Denis via Submission
Value bet: Frevola via KO/TKO
