MARINA RODRIGUEZ: UFC VETERAN FIRED UP TO PUT COMPATRIOT IN PLACE

Marina Rodriguez (17-4-2) will have plenty of motivation coming into this fight against a fellow Brazilian who is 15 years her junior. She has now lost three of her last four fights and that will be something she will want to remedy given her high standards over her impressive career to date. She comes off a split decision loss to another Brazilian Jessica Andrade at UFC 300 and she will be eager to bounce back here.

IASMIN LUCINDO: 22-YEAR-OLD AIMS TO EXTEND THREE-FIGHT WIN STREAK

After losing on her UFC debut via unanimous decision against Yazmin Jauregui, Iasmin Lucindo (16-5) has won her last three fights as she looks to rise up the UFC women’s strawweight rankings. There has been plenty of hype around Lucindo due to her impressive record that has seen her rack up 16 wins by the age of 22, but many of those came in smaller organisations. She is now backing that up in the big time and this will be another good benchmark to see how far she has come.

MARINA RODRIGUEZ VS IASMIN LUCINDO PREDICTION

This fight is fascinating for many reasons as we see two Brazilians at opposite ends of their careers meet in the women’s strawweight division. Marina Rodriguez will be desperate to show she is still relevant in the division while Iasmin Lucindo will want to show that she is the real deal against a compatriot 15 years older than her.

Rodriguez has been on something of a slide since a TKO loss at the hands of Amanda Lemos in November 2022. She has lost two more fights since then and barring her own TKO victory over Michelle Waterson-Gomez, she has just lost ground in the division. She was competitive against Andrade however and credit to her for that performance.

It does not get any easier here however as she faces an up-and-comer in Lucindo. The 22-year-old has power and stamina and is pretty well-rounded. We’ve gone back and forth with how this one plays out but we just edge the younger fighter to have the edge in power and energy to do enough for the win here.
