KETLEN VIEIRA: 33-YEAR-OLD RETURNS TO ACTION FOLLOWING INJURY ABSENCE

Brazil’s Ketlen Vieira (14-3) returns to the Octagon after 14 months. She was due to face Macy Chiasson in January at UFC Fight Night 234 but was forced to withdraw due to injury so this is her first fight since her unanimous decision win over Piannie Kianzad in July 2023.

Prior to that she had suffered just the third loss of her career to Raquel Pennington via split decision but that narrow loss looks better now with Penington the UFC women’s bantamweight champion.

KAYLA HARRISON: DOUBLE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST TARGETING TITLE SHOT

Two-time Olympic gold medallist Kayla Harrison (17-1) is making waves in the UFC and after beating Holly Holm via submission at UFC 300, she returns to action against Ketlen Vieira. Harrison has been dominant in the PFL where she fought the majority of her career but she will face sterner challenges in the UFC; including this bantamweight clash with Ketlen Vieira. There is no doubting Harrison’s ambition however and she is going hard on the smack talk in the build up to this fight which she will need to back up in the Octagon.

KETLEN VIEIRA VS KAYLA HARRISON PREDICTION

This is the fight where we will really see whether Kayla Harrison is the real deal or not. The 34-year-old has enjoyed a superb MMA career since transitioning to the sport and she got her UFC career off to a great start by submitting Holly Holm on debut. Now she faces a tough test as the UFC’s matchmakers are throwing her straight into the deep end.

Ketlen Vieira is a quality operator and has a strong resume. Her energy, stamina and all-round toughness is there for all to see and she will push Harrison all the way here. The one concern we have over Vieira is her inability to finish fights. She has not had a stoppage win since 2017 and her only real route to victory is via the scorecards by outworking her opponents.

That is arguably what has just held her back from becoming champion in the UFC. Her takedown defense is up there with the best in the division and that will be tested against the Judo specialist.

Harrison has had no shortage of stoppages herself. She has stopped her opponent in 13 of her 17 wins with six knockouts and seven submissions. On top of that, she has elite stamina and workrate which makes her a formidable opponent for anybody.

For those reasons, we see more ways to victory for Harrison and we favour her to back up her impressive trash talking with a victory over Vieira at UFC 307.

PREDICTION: KAYLA HARRISON TO WIN VIA DECISION
