JESSICA PENNE: 41-YEAR-OLD VET ON TWO-FIGHT SKID
Jessica Penne (14-7) is a former Invicta champion and the 41-year-old is desperate to pick up a win in what is clearly the twilight of her career. She has lost her last two bouts and has lost five of her last seven as she looks get a win under her belt. After serving a drugs ban of 20 months, she returned to action in 2021 with a couple of wins but has since lost her last two. The first was a unanimous decision to Emily Ducote and last out was a submission loss to Tabatha Ricci at UFC 285 in March 2023. She has been out of action since then but she returns to the Octagon to face Reed.
ELISE REED: EX-CAGE FURY CHAMP AIMING TO REBOUND
Elise Reed (7-4) comes off a submission loss herself to Lupita Godinez at UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs Shevchenko 2 in September 2023 – an opponent Penne has beaten with a split decision win. Reed was pretty active prior to that as she has built up a 7-4 record but she will now be looking to kick on again. She has good stamina and is really well-rounded, and she will certainly fancy her chances of outlasting the opponent ten years’ her senior.
JESSICA PENNE VS ELISE REED PREDICTION
This is another interesting fight in the women’s strawweight division. Elise Reed will fancy her chances of beating Jessica Penne over the 15 minutes and it is hard to see her stopping the 41-year-old.
Penne has a good array of submissions at her disposal however and that likely offers her the best route to victory. Whether she can impose her style on the fight and Reed remains to be seen.
We lean towards Reed in this bout just having the edge overall. She can evade Penne’s takedown and submissions attempts while outworking the veteran to take the decision.
