JACQUELINE CAVALCANTI: PORTUGUESE BANTAMWEIGHT LOOKS TO BUILD ON 7-1 RECORD
Portugal’s Jacqueline Cavalcanti has adjusted to the big leagues incredibly well as she has won both of her bouts since coming into the UFC. Her last win just five weeks ago at UFC on ESPN 62 against Josiane Nunes was particularly impressive. Despite it being a split decision win, it was a step up in quality and an important win.
NORA CORNOLLE: FRENCH FIGHTER ENJOYING EIGHT-FIGHT WIN STREAK
Nora Cornolle (8-1) is riding and eight-fight winning streak right now and the only loss of her career so far came in her very first professional MMA bout in 2021 against none other than Jacqueline Cavalcanti. The decision went against her that time but she has improved immeasurably since then winning all eight with six of those via KO/TKO.
JACQUELINE CAVALCANTI VS NORA CORNOLLE PREDICTION
This fight is a rematch from over three years ago when the pair met in the FFA Challenge organisation and it was the Portuguese fighter who won the decision that day. Both fighters then went down different avenues but meet once again as their paths cross in the Octagon.
Cornolle has been the more destructive of the two fighters but the level of opponent does need factoring in there. The one really telling victory of either fighter was Cavalcanti’s against Josiane Nunes last time out. She ground out a big win against a solid opponent and that gives us a benchmark of her level.
The French fighter will certainly have home support on her side but Cavalcanti represents a major step up in quality for her now. We favour the Portuguese fighter to replicate her win against Cornolle back in 2021 and get the decision on the judges’ scorecards.
