ISMAIL NAURDIEV: VETERAN GETS SECOND CHANCE IN UFC

28-year-old Ismail Naurdiev (23-7) has been handed a second chance in the UFC and he will be looking to make more of a mark than he did first time around. He had four fights in the Octagon where he won two and lost two but all four went to the scorecards and did not overly capture the imagination of the matchmakers. He then joined Brave CF where he won three and lost three, but the entertainment level went up a notch with his last four fights ending in the first round. He comes off a 70-second submission win over Tahar Hadbi and it will be interesting to see if he goes for the stoppage early on his return to the UFC.

BRUNO SILVA: BRAZILIAN MAKES RETURN AFTER DRUGS BAN

Bruno Silva (23-11) is coming off a six months’ drug suspension which came after his loss to Chris Weidman and the 35-year-old Brazilian will be desperate to snap a three-fight skid in the UFC. After going on a seven-fight win streak to earn a spot in the UFC, he has since lost five of his last six fights and needs to get a win under his belt quickly. The veteran was unhappy with his stoppage last time out as he complained that Weidman poked him in the eye as he was punching him but all the athletic commission did was change the manner of victory for Weidman who was in clear control.

ISMAIL NAURDIEV VS BRUNO SILVA PREDICTION

This middleweight clash is as unpredictable as it gets as Naurdiev has flattered to deceive in is previous spell in the UFC and has only just stepped up to this weight. Meanwhile, Bruno Silva has lost his last three bouts and five of his last six which hardly inspires confidence.

Naurdiev is the better technician, and his task will be to avoid Silva’s power which will not be easy against somebody who is more natural at this weight. Silva has won 20 of his 23 wins via knockout and he will be looking to knock Nourdiev out early.

It will either be Naurdiev by submission or Silva by knockout but it is hard to see this fight going the distance. Our marginal preference is that Silva will be able to hold off Naurdiev and get the knockout but it could just as easily be a submission the other way.

PREDICTION: BRUNO SILVA TO WIN BY KO/TKO
