IGNACIO BAHAMONDES: TWO-TIME PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT FIGHTER LOOKING TO PUT ON A SHOW
Chilean star Ignacio Bahamondes is coming off a stunning knockout head kick of Christos Giagos in what was his second Performance of the Night. That took his record to 15-5 and was his fourth win in his six fights since earning his shot in the UFC. Bahamondes’ two defeats in the Octagon both came via the judges’ scorecards but his wins have virtually all been highlight reel-worthy.
MANUEL TORRES: MEXICAN LIGHTWEIGHT RIDING SIX-FIGHT WIN STREAK
Manuel Torres returns to the Octagon looking to extend his six-fight win streak and his impressive 15-2 record. The 29-year-old will be desperate to get a win on the Mexican Independence Day celebration and he is just as adept as Bahamondes at putting on a show. All but one of his fights has ended in the first round, whether he has won or lost. That stunning run has continued in his three fights since joining the UFC and is clearly something he prides himself on.
IGNACIO BAHAMONDES VS MANUEL TORRES PREDICTION
Dana White and the UFC’s matchmakers had fireworks in mind when they put this fight together and it surely will not let anybody down. Both fighters are destructive and possess all kinds of ways of winning a fight.
Bahamondes has gone the distance in seven of his 20 fights but he has also knocked his opponent out 10 times in his 15 wins. If it goes the distance, one would expect his stamina to shine through and for him to get the win.
That may be easier said than done however. Torres is a savage and just keeps winnings. The odds on this one are pretty even and it is obvious why. Either fighter can win this one at any moment. The chances of it going the distance are slim and we just favour Torres and his risk-taking to pay off here, but it really is a pick’em fight.
PREDICTION: MANUEL TORRES TO WIN
