COURT MCGEE: THREE-FIGHT LOSING SKID FOR UTAH NATIVE

A fighter in the UCC for a staggering 14 years, Court McGee (21-13) has been handed the opportunity to fight in his home city of Utah in what could very well be his final fight in the Octagon. The 39-year-old has lost his last three fights and eight of his last 11 but him opening the prelims at the Delta Center will ensure a hot atmosphere right from the start of this event.

TIM MEANS: JUST ONE WIN IN FIVE FOR 40-YEAR-OLD

Veteran Tim Means (33-16-1 with one no contest) is in similar form to McGee as his career also winds down with the 40-year-old have lost four of his last five fights in the UFC. Stretching his form out a bit further, Means has won four and lost four of his last eight and he has ultimately been more competitive than McGee in recent times. That will give him confidence coming into this bout.

COURT MCGEE VS TIM MEANS PREDICTION

Court McGee and Tim Means face off in the Octagon and it would be no surprise if this is the last time we see either of these fighters in the UFC. Both have enjoyed outstanding MMA careers and their longevity in the UFC is a testament to the dedication both have put into he sport.

The duo have similar backgrounds in so many ways and there will be a high level of respect on show for this one. McGee will have the support from his home crowd but Means will get plenty of respect from the fans also.

This is a tough fight to call given both fighters have struggled in recent times. Court McGee has not stopped anybody since 2010 at UFC 121 – coincidentally his debut fight in the UFC where he submitted Ryan Jensen. All of his victories have come via decision, while both fighters have increasingly been stopped as they get older.

It is Means who has retained some punching power and his last knockout came just last September when he stopped Andre Fialho.

He has the edge in that department and that could be what makes the difference in this fight. McGee’s only legitimate route to victory is on the scorecards but Means can go the distance or potentially get the stoppage. We could easily see this one just going the distance but either way, we have to favour Means to win on the basis of their recent performances.

PREDICTION: TIM MEANS TO WIN BY DECISION OR KO/TKO
