CHARLES JOHNSON: THREE-FIGHT WIN STREAK FOR SURGING JOHNSON

Charles Johnson (16-6) is riding an impressive three-fight winning streak that has seen him beat Azat Maksum, Jake Hadley and Joshua Van. That came off a three-fight skid where he lost a trio of decisions so he is clearly trending in a good direction right now. His win over Van where he knocked him out was quite a statement and his confidence is high coming into this one.

SU MUDAERJI: CHINESE STAR LOOKING TO REBOUND FROM CONSECUTIVE SUBMISSION LOSSES

Knockout specialist Su Mudaerji (16-6) is coming off consecutive losses where was submitted by a triangle choke on both occasions. He will be desperate to get back to his old ways of knocking opponents out. 13 of his 16 wins have come by KO but his latest losses have only emphasised his vulnerability on the ground. All six of his losses have come by submission and that has to be a concern for him and coaching team.

CHARLES JOHNSON VS SU MUDAERJI PREDICTION

This has all the hallmarks of a classic and it will surely be a candidate for Fight of the Night. Johnson is the one with momentum behind him and he is certainly the more well-rounded fighter of the two.

He has knockout power as he showed last time out and Mudaerji certainly does, but Johnson is the one capable of taking this to the ground. It will be interesting to see how he approaches this fight and it would be no surprise if he uses his wrestling more than usual.

We favour him to have enough quality in the stand-up to avoid Mudaerji’s power but if he fights clever, he can win this one the ground.

PREDICTION: CHARLES JOHNSON TO WIN BY SUBMISSION OR DECISION
