AUSTEN LANE: EX-NFL PLAYER NEEDS WIN AFTER CONSECUTIVE LOSSES

Austen Lane (12-5 with one no contest) returns to action needing a win after losing his last two and his previous bout being a no contest. Both losses saw Lane knocked out and it remains to be seen as to how the former NFL player can bounce back from those. He got his chance in the Octagon after coming through Dana White’s Contender Series but the veteran is yet to win a bout in the organisation and desperately needs one here.

ROBELIS DESPAIGNE: CUBAN TAEKWONDO STAR LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK FROM DECISION LOSS

36-year-old Robelis Despaigne will aim to bounce back from a decision loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta in May and improve his 5-1 record. The Cuban had five consecutive wins all by knockout prior to that which earned him his shot in the UFC. His debut in the organisation saw him stop Josh Parisian with punches at UFC 299 in just 18 seconds and he will be aiming for the knockout right from the first bell here.

AUSTEN LANE VS ROBELIS DESPAIGNE PREDICTION

Expect fireworks in the opening fight of the night as Austen Lane and Robelis Despaigne will be looking for the knockout right from the start of the fight. Both fighters are not built to go the distance so there will be hiding either man’s strategies coming into this. We strongly like Despaigne’s chances in this one. He has a really good varied striking arsenal with hands and legs and Lane is already coming off two consecutive knockouts. Lane has as much of a puncher’s chance as anybody, but Despaigne is a wily veteran that is well-skilled and he is our clear pick in this one.

PREDICTION: ROBELIS DESPAIGNE TO WIN VIA KO/TKO
