ANTHONY HERNANDEZ: FIVE WINS IN A ROW FOR VERSATILE HERNANDEZ
Anthony Hernandez (12-2 with one no contest) comes into this main event in impressive form having won his last five fights. Those five wins have showcased his outstanding skillset as he has picked up three submissions, a knockout and a decision. Eight of his 12 wins have come via submission and he really is a well-rounded dangerous fighter. He is coming off a torn ligament in his hand which forced him out of a fight in June against Roman Dolidze but he will be keen to take this golden opportunity.
MICHEL PEREIRA: ON-FIRE BRAZILIAN FLYING UP THE RANKINGS
Michel Pereira (31-11 with two no contests) is on a tear in the middleweight division having won his last eight fights. He has beaten some real quality fighters during that run and his submission wins over Michał Oleksiejczuk and then Ihor Potieria last time out at UFC 301 in May both earned him Performance of the Night bonuses. His 31 wins have come in all manners – 11 knockouts, 9 submissions and 11 by decision – and he is such a well-rounded fighter. Confidence is high and he knows a win here could catapult him into the top ten.
ANTHONY HERNANDEZ VS MICHEL PEREIRA PREDICTION
What a fight this main event promises to be! Anthony Hernandez and Michel Pereira are both on an absolute tear in the UFC’s middleweight division and their lengthy winning streaks are on the line.
We marginally prefer Pereira in this fight. He has so much experience, is getting better with age and is just so dangerous on his feet or on the ground.
He is winning his fights in style and while Hernandez is a quality fighter who is improving all the time himself, we just see more ways for the Brazilian to win. We favour a late stoppage in this one.
PREDICTION: MICHEL PEREIRA TO WIN BY KO/TKO OR SUBMISSION
