ALEX PEREIRA: POATAN AIMING FOR RECORD THIRD TITLE DEFENCE IN JUST 175 DAYS

Alex Pereira (11-2) returns to action once again and the Brazilian continues to be one of the most active fighters in the UFC right now. Barring his loss to Israel Adesanya in April 2023, Poatanm has eight wins in less than three years and is rise to the top is remarkable. He has spoken about potentially facing Dricus du Plessis at middleweight and it will be interesting to see where he goes after this fight, win or lose.

Ronda Rousey currently holds the record for three consecutive title defenses in just 189 days but Poatan has the opportunity to beat that here with a win as it will be just 175 days from his win over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 in April and this bout at UFC 307. It was his win over Jiri Prochazka sandwiched in between at UFC 303 and the Brazilian superstar is determined to make the most of his stardom right now by being as active as they come.

KHALIL ROUNTREE JR.: FIVE-FIGHT WIN STREAK FOR UNDERDOG COMING IN

Many folks have questioned why Khalil Rountree Jr (13-5-1) has been handed this golden title opportunity against Poatan but the underdog has reeled of five successive wins a row to rise to number eight in the light heavyweight rankings. Four of those wins have come via knockout and there is certainly an element of his style and manner of victories having earned him this title shot.

Rountree Jr has been in the UFC since 2016 and he has always been an entertaining fighter to watch whether he has won or lost. The level of opponent he has faced however is the principle reason why people will be critical of his title shot as the quality is nowhere near that of Pereira’s. Rountree Jr will not care however and he will aim for the knockout right from the off.

ALEX PEREIRA VS KHALIL ROUNTREE JR. PREDICTION

The light heavyweight title is on the line as Alex Pereira defends his belt once again as he faces Khalil Rountree Jr. There has been some questions over whether the challengers deserves this shot but Rountree Jr is as game as it comes thanks to his outstanding knockout power that makes him incredibly dangerous.

Poatan simply has to be favoured however. There is no way this fight is going five rounds with the knockout power that both men possess. Pereira has the elite skillset and has been fighting at a significantly higher level for some time now compared to Rountree Jr.

You can never rule pout the punchers’ chance that Rountree Jr. possesses, but we have to go with the better fighter and we fully expect the stoppage too.
