Mirra Andreeva vs Yuliia Starodubtseva prediction
Mirra Andreeva made it through to the round-of-16 with a 7-5 6-3 win over Magdalena Fresch. The 17-year-old was visibly frustrated at times, as she was pegged back in the first set after going a break up but still managed to get the job done.
The Russian has always reached the fourth-round or better since making her debut at the event two years. As a 15-year-old, in just her second WTA main draw, she catapulted herself into the spotlight with a run to the last-16 and then went one better with a quarter-final appearance last year. Buoyed by her Indian Wells title and her impressive Madrid record, Andreeva could absolutely go all the way.
Yuliia Starodubtseva is her opponent after she came from behind to beat 18th Liudmila Samsonova 2-6 7-6 6-0. It’s been a fantastic tournament for the wildcard, who made it through qualifying to reach the main draw.
It’s been a fine run from Starodubtseva but we think it will end at the hands of Andreeva.
