Mirra Andreeva vs Iga Swiatek Prediction

Mirra Andreeva’s ascendency to the top of women’s tennis looks almost inevitably right now, with her straight-sets win over Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals seeing her become the youngest ever player to reach multiple and consecutive WTA 1000 titles.

The 17-year-old, who claimed the Dubai Tennis Championships title last month, has now won her last ten matches on tour and is yet to drop a set at Indian Wells.

World number two Iga Swiatek has been in similarly ruthless form though, with the Pole seeing off Qinwen Zheng 6-3, 6-3 in her own last-eight encounter. In the process, she became the first woman to reach the Indians Wells Open semi-finals for four consecutive years.

The reigning and two-time champion knows the task awaiting her though, as she faced Andreeva as recently as last month during the Russian’s title-winning run in Dubai. Andreeva won 6-3, 6-3 on that occasion, while Swiatek triumphed in three sets in their only other meeting at Cincinnati last year.

Something has to give here between two players who are playing some exceptional tennis. The sky is the limit for Andreeva, but Swiatek will have learned from her defeat to the Russian last month and is capable of mixing things up. In what is sure to be a high-quality semi-final, expect this to go to a deciding set.

Mirra Andreeva vs Iga Swiatek Tip: Over 2.5 sets
