MIKE MALOTT: CANADIAN LOOKS TO REBOUND FROM FIRST LOSS IN UFC

Mike Malott (10-2-1) is coming off his first loss in the Octagon as he lost via TKO to Neil Magny back at UFC 297 in January. Prior to that, he had been on a six-fight win streak which was part of the run which saw him earn his shot in the UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series. The Canadian has fought his last two bouts in Canada and he will be desperate to get back to winning ways in Alberta against Trevin Giles.

TREVIN GILES: TEXAN COMING OFF BACK-TO-BACK STOPPAGE DEFEATS

Trevin Giles (16-6) is coming off consecutive losses where he was stopped in both so he will be eager to put a halt to that here. He was submitted by Gabriel Bonfim and then knocked out by Carlos Prates earlier this year so Giles will need to show big character to come back from these losses. Giles has some big wins under his belt including one against Roman Dolidze back in 2021 but he has not really kicked on since then. He needs a win here to halt this alarming slide.

MIKE MALOTT VS TREVIN GILES PREDICTION

This is an interesting fight between two welterweights who need a win for different reasons. Malott will be desperate for the win on home soil to ensure he does not lose any of the momentum he had before his loss last time out. Giles, on the other hand, is in a tough phase of his career where he needs to rack up a couple of wins to stay relevant.

Malott comes into this in better shape overall and while Giles may have the edge in desperation, Malott can get back on track pretty quickly.

Either way, it is hard to see this one going the distance, but we do like Malott’s chances to win before the final bell.

PREDICTION: MIKE MALOTT TO WIN VIA STOPPAGE
