Michael van Gerwen vs Nathan Aspinall Prediction

Michael van Gerwen played some exception darts in Cardiff last week and it took nine-dart hero Luke Littler to defeat him in the final. The Dutchman will surely take encouragement from how he competed with Littler though, not to mention his earlier victory over world number one Luke Humphries.

Van Gerwen took some of that form into the weekend, where he narrowly lost to Ryan Joyce in the semi-finals of the European Darts Trophy, but he now faces the champion of that event - Nathan Aspinall.

Picking up his maiden European Tour title will be a huge boost to the Stockport thrower, who is seeking to avoid a quarter-final exit in the Premier League for the third week running.

Aspinall is playing well and really needs a win here to stay in touch with the top four, but with MVG operating at a high level lately, we can expect a close encounter that is likely to go over 9.5 legs.
