Michael van Gerwen vs Jeffrey de Graaf Prediction
Michael van Gerwen was given a stern test by Brendan Dolan in the third round on Saturday, but did just about enough to hold off his opponent and continue his bid for a fourth world title.
The third seed admitted that he needs to improve if he is to go all the way this year. Indeed, he is yet to average over 100 at Ally Pally this time around and he will hope to access his extra gears as the tournament approaches the business end. The battle with Dolan will surely have done him good, though.
Former BDO World Trophy runner-up Jeffrey de Graaf is something of a surprise package in the fourth round, with this being his best ever showing at the sport’s showpiece event.
He produced a huge shock by eliminating the much-fancied Gary Anderson in the second round, where he converted an incredible nine of his 12 double attempts, while he followed that with a relative comfortable victory over Filipino qualifier Paolo Nebrida on Sunday.
This is a kind draw for Van Gerwen but he needs to guard against complacency with De Graaf proving particularly proficient on his doubles. MVG has another level to his game though, and we fancy him to deliver his best performance of the tournament here.
