Michael Smith vs Kevin Doets Prediction

St Helens’ finest Michael Smith gets his 2025 World Championship campaign under way on Thursday evening as he meets Kevin Doets.

Smith, the winner of this event just two years ago in 2023, has also finished runner-up in 2019 and 2022 and he will be confident of doing well once again this year. The fact he is on the other side of the draw from the two Lukes will give Smith the belief that he can reach the final.

Kevin Doets came through a tricky match with Noa-Lynn van Leuven on Tuesday and he could only average 88.13 in that match. His checkout percentage was only 29.4% (10/34) and unless he improves drastically, it is hard to see him competing with Smith here.

This could very well have all the makings of a whitewash and we expect Smith to start fast and fly into the third round.
