Michael Chandler vs Paddy Pimblett Prediction

We have an absolute cracker of a co-main event at UFC 314 which could easily steal the show as a Fight of the Night candidate. Michael Chandler does not do boring fights and his last four fights have seen him earn Fight or Performance of the Night bonuses.

There will be no changing his approach coming into this one against Pimblett as it wouldn’t against any fighter in the world. Chandler is as tough and courageous as they come, and even when he has not won in recent years, he has gone out on his shield.

He has lost four of his last five fights but he has earned the plaudits since joining the organisation for his style of fighting. During that tough run, he has fought the best in the division too with losses against Charles Oliveira (twice), Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.

Chandler is all about fighting in high quality and highly-entertaining fights now rather than title shots and that is exactly what he has against Pimblett here.

The Englishman is a man on a charge having won his last eight fights and all six of his fights since joining the UFC. The 30-year-old has faced an increasingly better level of opponent but this may be his toughest test to date.

He has a win over Tony Ferguson but the veteran was well and truly shot by then and it is hard to put too much stock into that one. His win over King Green last time out was impressive as he stopped the American in the first round by submission.

However, we just see Chandler taking him into deeper waters than he has been for quite some time. Pimblett has spoken a lot about how Scousers do not get knocked out, but his chin is going to be seriously tested here.

Pimblett’s best chance of winning will be by submission while Chandler’s is arguably by inflicting the first knockout of Pimblett’s career. It feels difficult calling it, but we fancy Chandler’s chances here of getting the stoppage win.

Prediction: Michael Chandler to win
