Melbourne Renegades Preview: Just one point outside top four
Melbourne Renegades snapped a three-match losing run most recently against Perth Scorchers to put them right back into play-off contention. Only one point currently separates them from Brisbane Heat in fourth-place, so another victory here would be priceless from their perspective as the league stage reaches the business end.
To overcome the Scorchers at Optus Stadium was a huge result for the Renegades. Chasing 148 to win, Will Sutherland was the hero with a crucial captain’s knock of 70. He was assisted brilliant by Tom Rogers, who stayed in to see the team home with 49 not out.
Melbourne Stars Preview: Momentum with them
Melbourne Stars are officially on the charge and into the play-off mix following three consecutive wins. Whilst they sit bottom of the table, only net-run-rate keeps them behind three other teams including the Renegades and win here would see them jump all the way into the top four, an incredible turnaround.
Different players are stepping up, particularly the big-name stars within their line-up, which is contributing to their recent upturn. Glenn Maxwell for example, was outstanding last time out against Sydney Sixers, scoring 58 not out to ensure the Stars put a competitive score of 156 on the board, which they then defended.
Melbourne Renegades Betting Analysis
Whilst Tom Rogers’ bat was one of the decisive factors in Melbourne Renegades’ last win, it’s his bowling which has lit up the majority of BBL 14 so far. He boasts 13 wickets across seven games and no player has managed more than that total as of yet. At home, he’ll be eying up some big-name scalps with the ball and backing him to finish this game as the Renegades top bowler is a move potentially worth making.
Melbourne Stars Betting Analysis
When Glenn Maxwell shows signs of good form, bettors would be wise to jump on board. Maxwell’s destructive style of batting can see him accumulate runs very quickly and take the game away from his opponents before they know it. On the back of that unbeaten half-century at the MCG, back him to follow that up at Marvel Stadium with a score of 30+ runs.
Melbourne Renegades vs Melbourne Stars Expert Prediction
Both teams are coming off the back of a victory and both have every reason to be confident. The last game between these two fierce rivals saw the Stars narrowly defeat the Renegades by five wickets off the penultimate ball of the match and another close contest has to be on the cards. But right now, the Stars are looking unstoppable with their intimidating batting line-up on paper finally performing like the international stars that they are whether it be Ben Duckett, Marcus Stoinis or Glenn Maxwell. Back Melbourne Stars to make it four wins in a row and complete a double over the Renegades this season.
