Matteo Berrettini vs Thanasi Kokkinakis Prediction
Italy have made a change to their singles line-up as Matteo Berrettini steps in for Lorenzo Musetti who struggled in the quarter-finals. They are going with the form player and the way Berrettini played in the doubles has led to his selection here.
The 28-year-old spoke about how much he loves playing for his nation and the extra experience will no doubt benefit the team.
Thanasi Kokkinakis was excellent in his singles match in the quarters where his win over Ben Shelton gave Australia the platform to go on and upset USA. He started that match incredibly well dominating the first set when Shelton looked nervous. However, Shelton came back firing on all cylinders in the second set and when he won that, it looked like he could go on. However, Kokkinakis had other plans and grafted all the way to the tiebreak and eventually won the tiebreak.
He produced the goods at some really clutch moments and his confidence will be sky high coming into this semi-final clash.
This is a tough one to call and we really liked Kokkinakis in the quarter-finals. Berrettini is thoroughly enjoying his Davis Cup experience and playing well. We just favour him to edge this one in what should be another close opening match.
