Matteo Arnaldi vs Borna Coric prediction
Matteo Arnaldi arrives in Madrid on the back of a three-match losing run that has seen him slip outside the top 40.
The 24-year-old Italian had yet to find his feet on clay this year but will hope to rise to the occasion against world number 104 Borna Coric in the Spanish capital.
A former semi-finalist, Coric has been excelling on the Challenger circuit with a flurry of recent titles, but he’s not had the same success on the main tour of late.
The Croatian was solid throughout qualifying but Arnaldi has the tools to do damage if he can find consistency.
The difference between Challengers and the top level is considerable but Coric may spring a surprise with the chance to face Novak Djokovic in the second round no doubt acting as a source of motivation for both players.
Matteo Arnaldi vs Borna Coric tip: Over 2.5 sets
