Matteo Arnaldi vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Prediction

Matteo Arnaldi picked up a solid win in the first round as he overcame Christopher Eubanks 6-3 6-4 on Monday. He was not at his best but his serve on both first and second serve was solid enough and he was able to generate a handful of break points to get past Eubanks.

He now meets Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the round of 16 and the 25-year-old Spaniard was in fine form beating Brandon Holt last time out.

He won 6-1 7-5 as he served well and took three of his six break points to ease to victory.

The pair have met once before and that came in the ATP 1000 event in Canada last year. Arnaldi edged that one as Davidovic Fokina retired in the deciding set.

It is the Spaniard who is the marginal favourite with the bookies and it is easy to see why with his early season form. He reached the fourth round in the Australian Open including wins over Jakub Mensik and Felix Auger-Aliassime and with that momentum and form behind him, we edge him to progress from this one.
