Marvin Vettori: The Italian Dream coming off 18-month lay-off

Marvin Vettori (19-7-1) has lost two of his last three fights but those have come against high calibre opponents in Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier. His one victory during that time was a unanimous decision win over his opponent here Roman Dolidze and he will be hoping to replicate that result that UFC Fight Night 254. Vettori comes into this fight after an 18 month lay-off having missed the entirety of 2024 due to injury. He will have to shake off any rust quickly against the relentless Dolidze.

Roman Dolidze: Georgian looking to avenge loss and make it three wins in a row

Roman Dolidze (14-3) was incredibly active in 2024 taking three fights and the Georgian managed to win the last two against Anthony Smith and Kevin Holland. His only defeat last year came at the hands of the surging Nassourdine Imavov by majority draw but Dolidze can take plenty of confidence from his recent performances. He will now look to avenge the unanimous decision loss to Vettori which was much closer than the result suggests.

Marvin Vettori vs Roman Dolidze Prediction

The main event at UFC Fight Night 254 between Marvin Vettori and Roman Dolidze promises to be an absolute cracker as the middleweight duo rematch.

The first fight at UFC 286 was won by Vettori who picked up the unanimous decision in London but there was very little between the two fighters. The general consensus was that Dolidze won the first round and Vettori took the second and third.

A lot has happened since that initial fight and this one will take place over five rounds so it will be interesting to see how this one differs from the last.

The bookmakers have this fight evenly-matched with Vettori coming out as the marginal favourite. Our preference is for Dolidze however who comes into this as the more active fighter and certainly with more momentum.

Vettori has not fought for 18 months and it will not be easy to hit the ground running against a fighter like Dolidze. The Georgian has been hugely active in 2024 and we favour him to take control of this fight in the championship rounds.

Prediction: Roman Dolidze to win
