Marton Fucsovics vs Mariano Navone prediction
Despite indifferent form heading into his title defence, Marton Fucsovics booked his place in the second round with a comfortable 6-3 6-1 win over out-of-form Luca Nardi. A strong performance saw the Hungarian not lose serve during the whole match, saving both of the break points on offer while also winning close to 80% of his first-serve points.
He now faces the man he beat in last year’s final, Mariano Navone, for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition. The Argentinian performed well in his home event back in February, upsetting second seed Holger Rune before losing to Joao Fonseca in three sets, with the Brazilian teenager going on to win the event.
His results at the other two South American clay court events were less impressive, with a second-round loss to Sebastian Baez in Rio and a defeat at the same stage of the Chile Open to Damir Dzumhur.
The Argentine has shown his suitability on the clay before, having reached 11 clay court Challenger finals in the space of less than three years and two ATP Tour finals on the surface last year.
This rematch with Fucsovics could prove to be the closest of the second-round matches.
