Marseille Preview: De Zerbi’s Marseille

There have been 90 goals in Olympique de Marseille’s 27 matches so far this season and they do remain tucked inside the top three and the UEFA Champions League spots but their form has massively declined either side of the March international break.

The hosts have now suffered four defeats in their last five matches in Ligue 1. Their most recent defeat saw them lose 3-1 to Stade de Reims last weekend due to goals from Keito Nakamura, Mamadou Diakhon and Valentin Atangana.

Toulouse Preview: Mid-table Toulouse

Under the management of Spanish coach Carlos Martinez Novell, Toulouse play quite a fun and easy on the eye style of football and they will likely be quite content with sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table in the French top-flight.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 4-2 defeat at home to Stade Brest last weekend in a game in which they were 3-0 down after 62 minutes, fought back with goals from Vincent Sierro and Josh King, before then conceding again in the 90th minute.

Marseille Team News: Several absentees

Ahead of the visit of Toulouse this weekend, Marseille are dealing with several injury issues for this one such as Leonardo Balerdi, Chancel Mbemba, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Amine Harit, whilst Luiz Felipe is also now a doubt.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Rulli; Lirola, Cornelius, Michael Amir Murillo; Luiz Henrique, Kondogbia, Rongier, Merlin; Greenwood, Rabiot; Gouiri

Unavailable: Ruben Blanco (Injured), Balerdi (Injured), Mbemba (Injured), Hojbjerg (Injured), Harit (Injured), Moumbagna (Injured)

Questionable: Luiz Felipe (Injured)

Toulouse Team News: Couple of injuries

The aforementioned Josh King returned from injury last weekend to score what was an eventual consolation. They have a few injury issues, though, with the likes of Rasmus Nicolaisen and Niklas Schmidt both confirmed absentees.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Restes; Sidibe, Cresswell, McKenzie; Messali, Cristian Casseres Jr, Sierro, Suazo; Donnum, Gboho; King

Unavailable: Nicolaisen (Injured), Schmidt (Injured)

Questionable: Aboukhlal (Injured)

Marseille vs Toulouse Prediction

Marseille have become a bit of a mess at the moment. Their form was excellent at the start of the season in a 4-2-3-1 but then slowed so De Zerbi switched to a back three and now there is surely a case to be made for a shift in the system and in the personnel once again. They now face a Toulouse side that have been involved in some entertaining clashes of their own, too, so both teams scoring would appear quite a good bet for this one at Stade Velodrome.
