Marcin Tybura: Polish veteran looking for bounce back win

39-year-old Marcin Tybura (25-9) is coming off a submission loss at the hands of Serghei Spivac in August and he will be eager to bounce back here. He has not suffered consecutive losses since 2019 and he will have no intention of doing that now although that may be easier said than done. The Polish veteran has won eight of his last 11 bouts though and he will provide a stern test of Diniz’s credentials here.

Jhonata Diniz: Brazilian kickboxer puts 100% record on the line

Jhonata Diniz (8-0) has enjoyed a fantastic start to life in the UFC after transitioning from his kickboxing. He came through Dana White’s Contender Series last September and has gone on to win both of his bouts in the UFC. He has won seven of his eight bouts by KO and has impressed the UFC’s top brass sufficiently to fast track him. After seeing his bout against Derrick Lewis cancelled due to health reasons impacting his opponent, he is now rescheduled to face Tybura on this monster card.

Marcin Tybura vs Jhonata Diniz Prediction

Despite his age, Marcin Tybura continues to produce a really high level of performance every fight and he will look to do so once again at UFC 309. Diniz may have the sparkling 100% winning record, but Tybura’s resume containing 34 fights is full of high-calibre opponents.

Diniz clearly has some impressive skills at his disposal and it will be interesting to see if he can continue to stop opponents at the higher level in the UFC. The matchmakers seemed determined to find out whether he is the real deal or not and this fight will help give some answers.

We have a slight feeling that Diniz may live up to some of his hype in this fight. We have immense respect for Tybura, but we just feel that the Brazilian's technical ability in his striking especially made the difference.

As is often the case in heavyweight bouts, it is hard to see this fight going the distance. Our pick is Diniz to get the stoppage.

Prediction: Jhonata Diniz to win by submission or KO/TKO
