Ruud van Nistelrooy takes the reigns for the final time before Ruben Amorim's arrival, as Man Utd host Leicester for the second time in two weeks.

Man Utd Preview: The Ruud effect

As Utd fans count down the days until Ruben Amorim's arrival, interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has steadied the ship following Erik ten Hag's departure with two wins and a draw in his three games in charge.

The latest of those was a 2-0 victory over PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday, which followed a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend. This will be Van Nistelrooy's final game in temporary charge, and it is currently unknown whether the former Red Devils striker will have a role at the club under Amorim.

Leicester Preview: Late draw at Ipswich

A last-gasp Jordan Ayew goal rescued a point for Leicester in their battle with fellow promoted side Ipswich last weekend, after a sensational Leif Davis volley had earlier given the Tractor Boys the lead at Portman Road.

Steve Cooper will certainly want his side to put in a better defensive display than they did against these same opponents in the Carabao Cup just over a week ago, with the Foxes conceding five to a rampant Red Devils on that occasion.

Man Utd Team News: Injuries easing but Amad a doubt

There is some positive news on the injury front as Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are back on the training pitches, although they might be given the international break to work up their fitness before being considered for the first-team squad. Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo are still out.

Van Nistelrooy may have been tempted to reward Amad Diallo with a start after his impressive showing against PAOK, but the 22-year-old picked up a knock in that match and is a doubt for the weekend.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui; Ugarte, Casemiro; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund

Unavailable: Maguire (Injured), Mainoo (Injured)

Questionable: Yoro (Fitness), Shaw (Fitness), Malacia (Fitness), Amad (Injured)

Leicester Team News: Daka could return

Hamza Choudhury and Patson Daka are back in training and could be involved in some capacity, although Cooper will not want to risk re-injury and could keep the pair out until after the international break.

Jakub Stolarczyk and Bobby De Cordova-Reid are the only confirmed absentees in the Foxes camp.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Pereira, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Winks; Fatawu, Buonanotte, Mavididi; Vardy

Unavailable: Stolarczyk (Injured), De Cordova-Reid (Injured)

Questionable: Choudhury (Fitness), Daka (Fitness)

Man Utd vs Leicester Prediction

With Man Utd having already beaten Leicester 5-2 in Van Nistelrooy's first game in temporary charge of the club, hopes are high among the Old Trafford faithful that he can sign off his brief tenure with another emphatic win.

The host have been a more effective attacking unit since Ten Hag left, and there are plenty of players keen to make an impression ahead of Amorim's arrival. There is still plenty of work to do on this squad, but they should be comfortable victors here nonetheless.
